Navigation, Taskbar & Start Menu Customization

Windows 11 centers the taskbar by default, but everything about it is adjustable once you know where to look.

Taskbar Controls

  • Pin an app: Right-click any running app's icon and choose Pin to taskbar — it stays pinned whether open or closed.
  • Reposition it: Open Settings → Personalization → Taskbar → Taskbar behaviors to switch alignment back to left-aligned.
  • Quick Settings: Click the Wi-Fi/Volume cluster on the bottom-right or use keyboard shortcuts.

Start Menu Workflow

  • The Pinned section is customizable: right-click any item to unpin or rearrange.
  • Start typing immediately upon opening the Start menu to initiate instant searches across apps and files.
Tip: Skip using the mouse for Start. Press Win and type the first few letters of any app name to open it immediately.
